The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is hiring for Customer Representative Specialist’s – Motor Vehicle Branch positions contracted with Project Staffing! These temporary employees will support daily operations within BMV branch offices. Additionally, travel may be required. The worksites will be various branch locations throughout Maine. The hours would be 8am-5pm Monday thru Friday. The pay per hour will be $19.76 per hour. Position OverviewThis position performs complex customer service and administrative work in a Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch office. Staff in this role assist customers and determine eligibility for various credentials, registrations, permits, and licenses while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, and policies. Employees are expected to make decisions regarding the appropriate processes and actions necessary to complete transactions in accordance with BMV procedures. Core ResponsibilitiesTypical duties may include:
Assisting customers with motor vehicle registrations, driver licenses and permits, State IDs (including Real ID), voter registrations, license plates, handicap placards, and title applications
Reviewing legal documentation to verify residency, legal presence, insurance coverage, and eligibility requirements
Explaining motor vehicle laws, rules, regulations, and bureau policies to the public
Processing registrations, specialty plates, and title applications while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
Collecting and reconciling transaction funds and maintaining daily cash accountability
Performing vehicle identification number (VIN) inspections when required
Assisting with branch financial reconciliation in the absence of a branch manager
Supporting training of new employees on BMV procedures and policies
Assisting with supply inventory including plates, stickers, and forms
Coordinating with other BMV units, town offices, and law enforcement when necessary
Utilizing language access services to assist customers whose primary language is not English
Minimum QualificationsCandidates should have training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:
Strong customer service experience assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or services involving eligibility or compliance requirements
The ability to make independent decisions regarding processes and actions in accordance with established procedures
The ability to effectively assist customers and maintain composure in stressful customer-service situations
