Job Description

Job Title:  Maintenance MillwrightDepartment:  MaintenanceReports to:  Directly reports to the Maintenance Supervisor Required duties in this existing position include, but are not limited to:
  • Repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines
  • Use hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing equipment
  • Observe mechanical devises in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, caliper micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
  • Repair or replace defective parts
  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices
  • Start devices to test their performance
  • Lubricate and clean parts
  • Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, welder and other metal working tools to make repairs to parts
  • Initiate purchase order for parts and machines
  • May repair electrical equipment
  • Fabricate and machine parts and components for mill equipment
  • Maintain upkeep of all machinery and equipment to minimize downtime
  • Interpret and keep current on company policies, procedures, safety regulations, new equipment, and repair techniques and outside regulatory requirements relative to the functions under his direction to ensure proper compliance
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules
 Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in a comparable field, degree from a vocational/trade school a plus
  • Knowledge in electrical and mechanical fundamentals
  • Knowledge in electrical construction and installation
  • Knowledge in repair design and maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment, hydraulics, gas, pneumatics, welding techniques, machining parts and carpentry particularly in the sawmill industry
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to prioritize workload to minimize downtime
  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Prolonged standing and walking on hard surfaces
  • Ability to Lift, carry and rotate while carrying <100 pounds 
  • Work in and around hazardous atmospheres, to include but not limited to: high temperature, high humidity, sever cold, high winds, etc.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, open heights, loud/dry/dusty and/wet environments
  • Basic reading, writing, computer and math skills
  • Self-motivated and dependable
  • Must have a strong attention to detail 
  • Organizational skills and communications skills a must
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and adhere to the attendance and safety policies and procedures
 Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity
  • Ability to move/handle up to 100 lbs with assistance 
  • Ability to move/handle <75 lbs without assistance occasionally
  • Ability to move/handle 50 pounds without assistance frequently
  • Ability to move/handle 25 pounds or less without assistance constantly 
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and climb a ladder
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, twist, push, pull, reach overhead, climb a ladder, walk and squat
